It is a different proposal that combines culture, archaeology, history, and ecology. In order to know the very deep cultural sources of this Mexican country, being in contact with local people and the nature, as you will be in natural reserves with rivers, lakes and jungle. Having days of leisure at beautiful shores, Giving also the opportunity to many families living in this areas, to get jobs and of course, a better life. This tour give us the most exact idea about Mexico.
Day 01.- Reception at the airport of Mexico city (afternoon) and transfer to the hotel. If the flight arrives in the morning we start the visits making some changes in the schedule.
Day 02.- After breakfast (08:00 hrs) we start the visit of "La Basilica de Guadalupe" the most important religious center of Mexican people, continue to the huge archeological site of Teotihuacan for the visit of the pyramids of the sun, the moon, the palace, "La ciudadela" and Quetzalcoatl temple, lunch in a typical restaurant, back to the hotel and rest of the afternoon free.
Day 03.- After breakfast, visit of the historic center and the main temples like: the Cathedral, National palace and the frescoes of Diego Rivera, the great temple ( mayor temple) and others, afterwards transfer to the Anthropological Museum in order to know about the different pre-Columbian cultures developed in Mexico, back to the hotel and rest of the afternoon free for personal activities.
Day 04.- At 08:00 hrs, departure to the State of Hidalgo to visit the archaeological site of Tula, where the Toltec developed a great culture, we can admire the the great sculptures call "Los Atlantes", carvings and temples. After we drive to Tepotzotlan, small sity to have lunch at the restaurant of the monastery, after lunch visit of this beautiful colonial building call the National Museum of "el Virreynato". Back to Mexico city.
Day 05.- Departure to the state of Puebla, visit of the town center of this interesting colonial city, seeing the cathedral, the main buildings, visit of Santa Maria Tonanzintla to admire the barroc indigenous church, panoramic visit of the interesting town of Cholula, lunch in Puebla and continuation to Tehuacan city. Arrive and lodge at the hotel.
Day 06.- After breakfast (07:00 hrs.) we leave this city and drive (04:00 hrs) to Oaxaca state in order to visit the magical archaeological site of Montelalban belonging to the Zapotec culture, with the great temples, ball court, carvings, lintels steles and an unforgettable panoramic view to the valley. Visit of Atzompa, Zapotec town where people do the beautiful green pottery, lunch in this place, after wards visit of Cuilapan de Guerrero and continue to the city of Oaxaca, lodge at the hotel.
Day 07.- In the morning (08:00 hrs.) we start the visit of this wonderful city, capital of the state, so we go to the market that is considered as the most autochthonous and colorful, where every day local people trade with different products like: handcrafts, baskets, hammocks, vegetables, bread, flowers, grasshoppers etc. visit of the center of the town where we see the Cathedral, Government Palace, Santo Domingo church, regional Museum that exhibits the most important treasure found in Mesoamerica, Rufino Tamayo Museum, lunch in la Hacienda San Agustin to taste local dishes and afterwards visit of San Bartolo Coyotepec where people make black pottery, back to Oaxaca city and at night we have an special dinner and show of "La Guelaguetza" (the most representative regional music and dances of the state and the most important popular festivity) back to the hotel.
Day 08.- At 08:00 hrs. Departure to visit Mitla, archaeological site with fine geometric ornament in stone and royal tombs, visit of the ecological reserve "hierve el agua" to observe the interesting forms of waterfalls on the rock. Lunch in a local restaurant, visit of Teotitlan del Valle to see the handcrafts made there, back to Oaxaca city.
Day 09.- After breakfast, 07.30 hrs. we leave Oaxaca city and drive towards Huatulco, visiting the town of Ocotlan where we'll see the Museum of Rodolfo Morales great artist painter, the church and if it is Friday, will be important to discover the magnificent local market, continue with lunch on road. Huatulco is a magnificent place in the pacific coast with beautiful bays of white sand, arrival and lodge at the hotel.
Day 10.- After breakfast we make the check out of the hotel and start the wonderful full day tour to the different bays of Huatulco, enjoying beautiful landscapes, arriving to the beach of white sands and free time to swim and practice snorkel to see varieties of colorful fishes, time to have lunch in the place and at convenient time return to the city, afterwards we drive to Salina Cruz and lodge at the hotel.
Day 11.- After breakfast, departure to Tuxtla Gutierrez, continue to cahuaré where we take the motor boat in order to make the most fantastic tour to the sumidero canyon (2 hrs. tour) continue to Chiapa de Corzo to visit this small colonial city, lunch (included) in a local restaurant to taste typical food, later drive to san Cristobal de las Casas and lodge at the hotel.
Day 12.- We start the city tour visiting the center of the town, seeing the most important buildings, the indigenous market, church of Santo Domingo, we continue to the Maya villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan in order to know about the shamanism, religion, Maya cosmogony and the way of life of these Maya indigenous people, return to the city and free afternoon.
Day 13.- At 08:00 hrs. Departure to Montebello's lakes, visit of these colorful lakes, it is possible to do a sweet white water rafting, visit of the archaeological site of Tenam Puente, continue to the city of Comitán for lunch in a typical restaurant, drive to the water falls of "El Chiflon" walk in this place and time for swimming, back to San Cristobal de las Casas.
Day 14.- At 08.00 hrs. we leave San Cristobal and drive to Ocosingo, small city into the mountains and we do an interesting visit to the archaeological site of Toniná, of magnificent architecture, carving stones, round steles, stucco modeling and interesting pieces exhibited in the Museum, continue to the water falls of Agua azul, visit and free time to swim and lunch (included) . continue to Misol-ha water fall and arrive to Palenque, lodge at the hotel.
Day 15.- At 06:00 hrs. Departure to the Lacandon jungle with breakfast (included) on road, visit of the Maya mural paintings of Bonampak (one hour) and continue to Frontera Corozal where we take a motor boat over the usumacinta river towards Yaxchilan, visit of this incredible site hidden into the rain forest, with beautiful lintels, steles, carvings and magnificent temples, return to frontera corozal, lunch (included) and continue to lacan-ha, community of Lacandon people where we lodge in cottages, at convenient time dinner.
Day 16.- After breakfast, a Maya lacandon man will take us to a tour into the jungle (five hours), to see the nature crossing brooks, visiting the archaeological site of Lacan-ha that is unexplored, we arrive to Cedros river and the water fall of Mactuni-ha and have time to swim, back to the lodge and return to Palenque with lunch (included) on road.
Day 17.- At 08.00 hrs. Departure to the archaeological site of Palenque and visit of the most important and biggest city of the maya culture, we can admire the magnificent architecture, carvings, temple of inscriptions, temple of the sun, temple of the foliage cross, the palace and many others, visit of the Museum (Monday is closed), continuation to Campeche with lunch on road, lodge at the hotel.
Day 18.- In the morning, visit of the Historic center, the Cathedral and the forts, after wards we drive to Uxmal, visit of this fantastic Maya site with fine art ornament, depicting rain god masks, dwarf temple, nunnery quadrangle, temple of the turtles, the palace and others, lunch in a typical restaurant, continue to Merida, arriving visit of the center of the town, Government palace where we see the frescoes painted by the local artist Fernando Castro Pacheco, the cathedral, lodge at the hotel.
Day 19.- After breakfast we start with the very interesting visit of Tzibilchaltun, Maya site surrounded of exuberant vegetation and one natural spring of water call "cenote" after that drive to "Celestun" to spend the day at the sea, enjoying of the beach and take a motor boat for a tour along the estuaries to watch wild fauna of the place, lunch in a local restaurant and at convenient time return to Merida.
Day 20.- After breakfast, departure to the Maya village of Pisté, and visit of the spectacular Maya site of Chichen Itza where we admire the famous temple of Kukulkan, temple of the warriors, temple of venus, sacred well, the ball court, the observatory and more. Lunch in a local restaurant to taste typical dishes and continue to Cancun or Playa del Carmen, lodge at the hotel.
Day 21.- At convenient time transfer to the airport |
